From the CEO

2016 is ending on a high note with the largest charitable giving research project Australia has seen in ten years launched last Thursday at Parliament House.

An estimated 14.9 million Australians gave a total of $12.5 billion over 2015-16. Some 95 per cent of large businesses also participated in regular giving, which is a hugely encouraging finding. As Senator Zed Sesalji commented on the day, this data gives us insight into the trends we can now leverage and the gaps we need to fill. This is important work for our sector and wider social fabric.

Building a more giving and caring society remains one of the four key measures set by charity leaders, including Good2Give, to measure national progress against. Community Council for Australia recently benchmarked how States and Territories performed against these measures in The Australia We Want National Press Club report launch in October.
